Officer of the Year

The staff of the Seventh Order would like to announce the Officer of the Year.  This award goes to a player whom we feel embodies the spirit of Cardassia and the Seventh Order.  As always, the decision is difficult.   As we looked back through the postings over the last year, one thing became very obvious.  That there are many people who deserve to be honored for their skill, for their dedication, for making us laugh when things are tough, for passages that freeze our souls or inspire us to new heights, for carrying the honor and glory of Cardassia forward.

It gives me great pleasure to announce the Officer of the Year - Glinn Altana Maket.  Glinn Maket is the embodiment of a Cardassian Political Officer, and you will find no finer within the Order.  Congratulations Glinn!

An excerpt from Glinn Maket's bio:

Altana Maket is cold and professional at all times. She is fiercely loyal to Cardassia and the ideals of the TRI Order. She is conservative, hard-lined and suspicious to the point of paranoia. Although she is respectful of high ranking officers she has also been known to target non- or 'lesser'-Cardassians regardless of rank or position. She trusts no one and should be considered very dangerous.  She is a master of hand to hand combat, Klingon primative weapons, and phaser marksmanship. She is conservative and upholds Cardassian traditions. She has never cut her hair, wearing it braided while in uniform and arranged simply when off duty. She wears only Cardassian fashions and preferes well tailored suits and dresses in grey or other subdued colours.

Altana is the youngest of three children and the only female and was not expecred to follow her father and brothers in military service. At age nine she joined the "Future Leaders of Cardassia" youth group at which she excelled. She became squad leader in her first year and won the essay writing contest three years in a row. After her formal education and graduation she joined the Political Officers Corps and served as a civilian PO to the Ministry of Education and later the Ministry of Health Sciences. After the rise of the Detapa Council and war with the Klingons, Altana Maket decieded to follow her family tradition and join the military in service to Cardassia.

Glinn Maket wins her choice from the Seventh Order Goodie bag.   Please contact Gul Hecat (hecat@7thorder.org) to claim your prize.

The Dominion Christmas Album

New to the world of Star Trek, it's the Dominion Christmas Album, featuring all your favorite christmas classics as they're sung by the lizard people, the shapeshifters, and those guys with the weird ears.
Don't miss such Dominion classics as....

I'm dreaming of a White dosage
Just like the founders give to me

and....

Take over the Alpha Quadrant, fa la la la la, la la, la, la
Get some help from Cardassians, fa la la la la, la la, la, la
Then we'll kill the Cardassians, fa la la, fa la la, la, la, la....

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?  Not on this christmas album.   It's....

Odo the smooth-nosed changeling
Had a very shiny face
But if you ever saw him
You'd think he was a solid
All of the other changelings
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Odo
Join in any changeling games (like taking over the universe!)
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
The female changeling came to say
Odo with your skin so smooth
Won't you join our link tonight?

As the dominion advance on the station outside the wormhole, the joy of Christmas echoes prominently on their ships....

Ringaling, hear them ring
Red alert sounds in the station
Jem 'Hadar, gone to war
Soon we will have Deep Space Nine

Hear the Christmas cheer as the Dominion celebrate their first Christmas on DS9....

Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Deep Space Nine is evacuated
Weyoun's troops have immigrated
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace,

And, of course, no Christmas album could possibly be complete without the classic twelve days of Christmas....

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my founder gave to me
12 bug-like starships,
11 rituals of honor
10 glorious battles
9 reinforcements
8 Vorta leaders
7 phaser rifles
6 wormhole passes
5 VATS OF WHITE
4 skin ointments
3 cloaking shields
2 jagged knives
And a trip to the Alpha Quadrant

That's the Dominion Christmas Album. Pick it up today, or die in disgrace.

A Special Christmas Gift From Kaylan Mynar
The staff of the Seventh Order would like to wish everyone a joyous holiday season.  The Kaylan, who at one time was involved with an Intelligence mission within the Federation has told us of some of the traditions that are practiced by the Federation.  As you can see, we have included some carols for you to sing.  Of course they have been altered to be more politically correct for Cardassia.  One other tradition to note is that of giving gifts.  The Kaylan has embraced that notion and has created a gift for his officers in the Seventh Order.
For those of you who use Windows 95, we are happy to offer the Seventh Order desktop theme.  You can pick it up via the web page by linking to the Database page, and looking for the Seventh Order Theme (link no longer active), entry.  Please note, that due to size, it is in ZIP format. You will require the appropriate software (e.g. PKUNZIP) to uncompress it.
Wishing everyone a safe and merry holiday!

A Cardassian Carol
   by Ardeth
(To the tune of Jingle Bells)
Dashing through the sky
In a high warp speed Galor
Through the stars we go
Drinking our kanar
Klingon ships explode
As we join the fight
Oh, what fun it is to fly
And blow up enemies tonight.
Yamok sauce,
Yamok sauce,
   Yamok all the way....

Star Trek: The Experience - at the Las Vegas Hilton

Coming in the Fall of 1997 to the Las Vegas Hilton is what promises to be a Trekker's dream come true. Arriving just over thirty years after the first debut of Star Trek on American TV, the $50 million expansion will carry on the tradition of the countless Star Trek episodes, movies and books.

The ground breaking on January 24, 1996 began a year-long conversion of part of the northwest corner of the Las Vegas Hilton casino and shops into a state-of-the-art Star Trek experience incorporating simulator rides, themed casino areas and restaurants, and intricately detailed duplicated sets from the series and movies.

One's voyage may begin with a trek through the museum-like exhibit of authentic Star Trek costumes and memorabilia (there are already a few articles on display on-site at the time of this writing). From there guests may "beam-up" to the bridge of the Starship Enterprise. From there it's off on an immersive, interactive simulated mission on a shuttle-craft simulator via turbolift.

After a rousing mission it's always time to settle down and browse the exact replica Deep Space Nine style promenade complete with restaurants, games and shops. One Cardassian themed restaurant will feature such delectibles as Romulan Ale and Glop-on-a-Stick. Another will feature food vending machines designed to look like the ship food replicators. In the computer gaming area, guests will be able to assume the identity of their favorite Star Trek Alien and have their picture taken.

The attraction is a joint venture between Paramount Parks and the Las Vegas Hilton. Stretching two to three stories (a number of suites facing the rooftop putting greens had to be gutted to make room) and resulting in a 22,000 square foot Spacequest Casino. The ceiling of the casino area will consist of six "space windows" creating a constantly changing panoramic illusion of space action.

Visiting today, one can see the few memorabilia items on display or perhaps sneak a peak beyond the workmen as they come and go through the carefully obscured access doors opening onto gift-shop row just north of the check-in desk. But come this fall be prepared to experience the Final Frontier.
