Here is a general introduction form to the Seventh Order, Cardassian PBEM role-playing club, for those seeking quick answers.
General Description:
The Seventh Order is a play-by-email (PBEM) role-playing club, specifically designed for Cardassian fans. It is a club dedicated to returning to Cardassia, the pride and dignity of its people, and to restoring the rightful power of authority in the Alpha Quadrant.
Game Summary:
As a player in the Seventh Order you will receive several posts in your mail box from your fellow crew members onboard your ship or station. There is a command staff for each game that includes the Captain and First Officer. There is a Assistant Game Manager (AGM) who supervises the game and often is the commanding officer. The AGM is in charge of keeping the game on track by performing various plot modifications and introducing non player characters (NPCs) to further the story when necessary. Think of a NPC as a supporting character in a movie or television series (Such as Morn on DS9). It is a made up character by the AGM and is not played by any of the players. He is controlled by the AGM in most cases.
Players are not allowed to write major plot changes into the story, but are allowed to create minor diversions to the plot that effect their character. If you have a question about your idea and whether it would be allowed, please email the AGM for confirmation. The AGM has the power to negate a players post if it is contrary to the plot line.
Player Experience:
Players do not need previous role-playing experience once sent to the training camp, a player will learn how the Order is run. It can be easily picked up along the way.
Time Frames:
Players will receive posts from their crew on any day and at any time. Though game responses are allowed daily, the crew can post whenever they feel that they want their character to do something. Players must post at least once per week.
PC Autonomy:
Players are required to create their own characters for role-playing within the Seventh Order. A character profile sheet is sent to all recruits to fill out and return to their point of contact. Please feel free to expand upon this character sheet.
Campaign World:
The Seventh Order takes place within the Star Trek Universe, particularly within the time frame of Deep Space Nine. All missions are set up in and around the time period of the latest episode, including whatever political structures are present. Just as on Deep Space Nine, the Damar government backed by the Dominion is the governing body of Cardassia.
Rating:
All game play is written on a PG level. No X-rated writings shall be accepted. If a player submits something offensive, it will be negated by the AGM. If a player does this a second time they will be suspended for the duration of the mission (which could be anywhere from one month to a year) and will be put on probation when they return. Use the television series as a reference. If it can happen on tv, it can be written in the game.
Characters:
The Seventh Order welcomes all types of created characters. Players must create a character that is Cardassian. No aliens (non Cardassians) or half breeds will be allowed. The Cardassian Union is another form of society and culture altogether and thus has different standards and belief systems than the Federation which is shown on the various series.
Publications:
The Seventh Order currently supplies a email newsletter called The Cardassian News Network (CNN) which reports information to cadets in training and players abroad in the game. The Cardassian News Network is a random publication and can be requested from players and non-players outside of the club. The CNN is published throughout the year with no set date of issue.
Promotions:
The Seventh Order promotes their own officers
without the authority of other outside Cardassian clubs.
