Below is a official policy statement regarding promotion within the ranks of the Seventh Order. Please read through it and save it for future reference. Promotions will most likely becoming up after the current mission or perhaps even before it's over with. So stay sharp and stay Cardassian!

Seventh Order Promotion Policy
It is the policy of the Seventh Order to promote all deserving players at the appropriate time. The Seventh Order has the right to decline any promotion request from a commander and also has the right to demote any player who has violated the rules and regulations of the Seventh Order.
Promotions are not necessarily based on time in service aboard a
ship or station. They are more frequently based upon past performance in
missions, frequency of posting and quality of posting.
Mission Performance
Mission performance is very important. When on a mission each character
will play a role larger or smaller than that of his fellow crew members
depending upon the mission parameters. But each officer has the responsibility
to make the most of his role whether it is limited or not. If your mission
responsibilities are smaller on a specific mission, you can still contribute
by posting about what your character is doing. This is a good opportunity
to further develop your character, to give them a more realistic background
and sphere of experience.
Frequency of Postings
Frequency of Postings is a sign of player involvement in the game.
If you have no restrictions as to your access to email, then you should
post as often as you are able. Some players are restricted from using their
email because it might be at a inconvenient location, such as a school
or library. Normally we would stress quality over quantity, but with the
slow pace of email based games, it seems to be a good idea to get as many
people posting as much as possible to move the game along at a reasonable
pace.
Quality of Postings
Quality of Postings is a condition that is only partially important
as long as the players format their posts correctly. The Seventh Order
is made up of a diverse group of people from all walks of life. And even
though we do have some writers amongst us, the rest of us write for a hobby.
But nevertheless, this is an important factor in deciding promotion, so
keep up the effort and it will pay off.
Time in Service
Time in Service is the least considered condition for promotion,
but still is looked at to determine if an officer has served generally
faithfully for a long time in that position. Some officers may be promoted
beyond officers who have been in the Order for a longer period of time.
This is due to one of the above factors.
Political Situation / Rank Structure
Political Situation / Rank Structure. There are times when a person
may be fully deserving of a promotion based on the above criteria. However,
there are situations which may still prevent them from being promoted.
An example of a political situation might be when you are playing a character
that is not Cardassian or not fully Cardassian. If the political climate
is more closed and other races are being looked on with suspicion, this
may inhibit your ability to move. Rank structure can also play a factor.
For example, Seventh Order rules state that there is only one Tulgryn on
a ship, the First Officer. If there are a number of Glinns on the ship,
they may not be promoted unless the current First Officer or they, move
on to another assignment.
