The Ukel Class Heavy Personnel Transport is the stalwart of the Cardassian Fleet. It has been around for a number of years and with system upgrades, is still being produced throughout the Union.

Technical Information:

Ship Class:  Personnel Transport The Ukel is designed to carry many thousands of Cardassians to different parts of the empire. Mainly a troop carrier, it has been deployed as a evacuation ship in emergency situations.

Duties:  Transport of Humanoid Beings

Exterior Appearance:  Large and bulky, similar looking to a mineral transport. The Ukel is the largest ship in the Cardassian Fleet. It is easily three times the size of a Galor, making it even larger than the proposed Gralik Class Heavy Cruiser. It is one and a half times the size of the Federation's Galaxy Class and a little smaller than a Sovereign Class.

Interior Details:  60 decks. The Ukel has 60 decks, to the Maksuun's 18.

This ship is about space. It can carry approximately ten thousand people or many thousands of tons of cargo.

The Ukel's normal crew complement is 90. All officers are of the Cardassian Military or Government.

Medical:  Single ward sickbay incorporating operating area Sickbay will be quite small, and heavy casualties will require the medical staff to take over the cargo area. The medical officer is expected to perform as if he had a regular sized sickbay.

Engineering:
Cruising Speed Warp 6
Sustainable cruising speed will be warp 6.
Emergency speed warp 6.6.

Tactical Systems:  Type "F" Phasers. Offensive weaponry includes Type F phasers. Power can be routed from the engine for sustained combat. Otherwise phaser fire can only continue for a matter of a few minutes.

Defensive shielding is relatively weak, having to cover such a large area with shield generators less than one tenth as powerful as a Keldan Class.

Sensors:  Low quality sensors for navigation purposes mostly. The Ukel is weak in the sensor area as it usually is not involved in combat or science missions.

Transporters:
25 personnel
10 cargo

The Ukel has 25 personnel (quantum-resolution) transporters and ten cargo (molecular-resolution) transporter. As on newer Cardassian starships, the cargo transporter can be reconfigured for quantum-resolution transport if necessary.
