Par Barak

Race: Cardassian
Sex: Male
Age: 39
Height: 5"10"
Weight: 179lbs
Eyes: Pale Blue
Hair: Black tingrd with grey

Marital Status: Widower
Birth Place: Cardassia Prime
Father: Gor Barak Schoolmaster and former Chief Sharpshooter 2nd Order. A calm quiet man who taught his son never to mistake kindness for weakness. He has many powerful friends throughout the Cardassian Union but does not contact them and is reluctant to greet them when they contact him.

Mother: Artel Barak. Former Secretary to Legate Ti Ren. It is said that she once killed a Breen pirate with her bare hands though you would not think it to see her bustling about her kitchen. She misses her son greatly.

Spouse: Shar li. The one tue love of his life. Killed with his five children by a Phaser blast during the Federation assault on the planet where he was living in self imposed exile.

Pschological evaluation: As a young boy it was obvious that he had inherited his father's unerring accuracy in any form of shooting. He was conscripted into the 2nd Order and became their Chief Sharpshooter. Central Command used him on a number of elimination missions and he became their most effiecient marksman having a 100% kill rate. The happy boy was replaced by a cold, quiet, deadly self-contained man with few friends. Most people were shy about approaching him and all were afraid of him. Execept one a pretty young heiress, Shar li. Under her influence he left the Military and settled down to a happy married life. When the Federation Landing party stuck he was away from the village at market. On the graves of his wife and children he has sworn an oath of revenge. Quiet and meticulous in his duties he cares little for rank though he maintains an appearence of loyalty to superiors. If he ever met a C.O. that could awaken his long dead patriotism he would follow that individual through the fires of hell itself.

Special Talents: Deadly with all weapons and bare hands, though a little rusty.

Reason for Rejoining
Official: To defend my homeland against all enemies of the state
Unofficial: To seek out the killers of my bright star and make them answer for their deeds.

Education: Classified Central command reccods destroyed during Klingon attack.

Schooling: Taught to respect authority and follow orders to the letter by his father. He also learned to love and respect history and good food. That was his mothers influence. As a boy he was friendly and outgoing having several friends of both sexes. His father never discussed his sevice in the Seccond Order but high ranking officials would arrive at the house, often after dark, to give his father gifts for "services rendered". Once when a Gul attemted to threaten his father (his son was doing poorly in maths tests) he saw his father look staight into the officer's eyes and say "don't try to threaten me, my dear sir I've watched Legates breathe their last". The minor Gul staggered back as if he'd been hit. Then ran out of the house. He asked his father about the incident and for once saw real anger in the older man's eyes. "That man is one of the lance corporals of life. He struts around like a cock on a dunghill but when his company of Mechanised Infantry were pinned down by a few Bajoran peasants with more courage than sense, it took the Sharpshooters to recue them".

Two days after this incident his father took him into the hills to teach him to shoot. Gor explained to his son that sooner or later war between Cardassia and her neighbours was inevitable. When that time came it was the duty of all men to seve the state. From that day onward, Par spent as much time learning the Arts of Elimination as he did in the classroom.

When conscription came, his father spoke to an old freind in Central Command and Par was posted to the Second Order Camp of Instruction. Here he learned that instant and unquestioning obedience was required in the Order that Considered itself "Seccond to None". To hesitate for one seccond when Galt Matok gave an order was punishable by a severe beating on the first offence and death on the seccond. Seeking to escape fom this regime, he considered desertion or suicide but instead chose to exploit his natural talent for shooting and enter the Union Championships. He won at the first attempt and went on to win a futher unprecedented five times in ensuing years. Rising rapidly through the ranks of the Seccond, he soon commanded the elite Sharpshooter Company and fought with them on Setlik III. He shot down any who opposed the Order without question. Central command had long watched the career of this young man and were determined to use him for their own purposes. He was summoned to the office of Gul Verlim and offered his father's old position-- Eliminator in Chief-- but along with the villa, servants, and other material benefits of the position came a much darker legacy. He soon realised that the job made him the most hated man in the Cardassian Union. Very well then. If they hate me they shall also fear me.

For the next fifteen years he was the living sword in the hands of Central Command, striking down enemies of the state without fear or favour. He became cold and austere in manner living simply on a camp bed with one chair and table. Did not attend parties socially and mixed only with old comrades fom the Sharpshooters.

Into this cold dark night of a life there then entered a radiant sun. While attending a Ceremony on Empok Nor, a beautiful girl bumped into him and spilled the one glass of Terran Ginger Ale (his favourite drink) that he had allowed himself for that evening. Most women (or men) would have apologised and hoped that he would have left it at that, but this girl did nothing of the sort. She laughed at her mistake and within a few minutes of talking to her, he laughed too.

Eliminators in Chief are not known for wasting time and within a month he proposed marriage. There was only one Klingon in the Yamok Sauce, the Central Command's hold on power was weakening as the dissident movement gained support and his services were needed desperatly at that dark hour for Cardassia. They say love conquers all and he chose Shar Li before his masters. This action barred him from living on Cardassia Prime or contacting his Parents. He left for voluntary exile and never spoke of his loss of position or influence. The night before he left, he promised Gul Dukat that if ever Cardassia Prime were threatened he would return and accept any position to defend his homeland.

During the Klingon War, he formed the villagers of his region into a militia and beat of several Klingon attacks.

The death of his wife and children have devastated him. As night falls again on his dark Cardassian soul, he is reminded of his promise to return and, if necessary, die with honour in defence of his home. Besides, there is the little matter of the Landing party that he believes killed his wife and children. These Federation people take things so personally, so he killed two Admirals and a score af Ambassadors. War is war.

In the Inn, the night before he applied to seek annonymity in the junior ranks of the Seventh Order, he tried to justify his actions to himself. But, in the cold watches of the night, when the demons come, he sees only the faces of his dead wife and children and for the first time in thirty years, he cries himself to sleep.
